Top 10: holiday gift ideas

Post by Letterman »

(OK, this could go on any board, but I was on the football board when I started. And it's usually the most heavily-read board on the site, so .... without any further ado....)

From the home office, High on the Hilltop, the top 10 holiday gift ideas for the SMU athletic department:

10. A legitimate marketing/P.R. campaign for the teams that annually are among the best in the nation: Soccer, swimming & diving, track & field
9. A new groin for Bryan Hopkins
8. An offensive line that dominates the line of scrimmage from the start of each game to the end
7. Scoring help for The Q
6. A complete recovery for The Comet
5. Permanent removal of that ridiculous Mustang Maniac mascot they threw out there this year
4. A decision to stick with real grass in Ford Stadium
3. Two more Harvey sisters for the women's soccer team
2. A top-25 football recruiting class

And the #1 gift idea for the SMU athletic department:

1. Return to gridiron glory!

I like your priorities in life, Letterman. Keep the lists coming. Good stuff!
(Especially the part about the dominant o-line, eh BUS?)

I, too, like your list. The real grass has got to go, though. If you had played on, or talked to someone who has play on, the new stuff, you would not have included it in your list. I saw a great "up-and-coming" soccer prospect who plays club soccer for some Midland team and someone at the game said her name was Sara and she goes to Lee H S out there. 10-4 on the O-line! Go Ponies!

Oops..... almost forgot.: That ridiculous "Mustang Maniac" has got to go. Let Peruna do that t-shirt stuff. If I were the PA announcer, I would be embarrassed to announce his entrance the way he does. His appearance at games is underwhelming, to say the least. Nice try, somebody.

I don't know everyone on your list, being half a country away, but it's still funny stuff.

New groins all around!

NEVER dig up grass to go to turf - keep extra sod rolls on hand, if necessary, but the synthetic stuff is pure evil. And I have the knees to back up my argument.

Best wishes to Comet - here's hoping you finish up strong in 2003.

And you nailed it with your other football items: beef up the lines, knock 'em dead in recruiting, and return to glory!

You can never have enough Harvey sisters!

Hey Letterman, when you're requesting the full recovery for Comet (as we all want), throw KG's name on that list too. He came back at the end of the year, but he's got a pro career to prepare for. And I'm hoping he's a star in the NFL.

Great list though!
