New Conference

How about this for a new conference:

SMU
TCU
Arkansas
Texas
A$M
Baylor
Rice
Houston
Texas Tech

Would be a pretty good conference if you asked me.

That would be good, maybe we could name it something like the Southwest Conference since this is where all of these teams are. You may be on to something there Nacho.

I would add Tulsa so we could have a football patsy in the conference. Also adds Oklahoma to the TV audience.

One might consider getting a La. team in the conference as well. After Texas, La has the next largest TV markets (NO) as well as the largest non-Texas population (vs. Ark, Okla.).

Just trying to think of ways to increase the TV market share of a conference.

If we broke it up into division with Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Notre Dame in the East division, that would be something.

How about the Texas eight Conf. SMU,TCU,BAYLOR,RICE,TT,HOUSTON,UTEP,NORTH TEXAS. Good for competion,fans,and travel.Not to mention it would help the Red Raiders and Bears to at least have a chance at a conf. championship.

You guys kill me. TEXAS, A&M, and TECH WILL NOT LEAVE THE BIG 12!!!! They have a good TV contract, great attendance, the most powerful football conference in the country, etc...Give me one good reason for them to leave? They put the SWC on their backs and carried SMU,TCU,Rice,etc.. for years. Why do it again?

I would add OU, Tulane and LSU. That way we'd have 12 teams and could have a championship.
Put SMU, TCU, Baylor, Rice, Tulane, and UH in the B division and UT, OU, LSU, Ark., TT, and A&M in the A division. The winners play each other in the championship. Wouldn't that be fair to the big schools? We could even provide at 75% of the TV money goes to the B Division schools. Hey, and we could provide that the A division loser goes to the B division and the B division winner goes to the A division.

This thread started out as humor - not reality. I will say this, Tech has never "carried" anyone, or anything, let alone the old SWC. Texas and A&M, well, that's another story.

Nah...Arkansas belongs in the SEC. Invite UNT so it can be an all Texas SWC. Hayden Fry can come out of retirement and coach the mean greenies.
