De'von Bailey Lawton, Okla
6-2, 200. No. 6 Player in Oklahoma, No. 48 "Athlete" on Rivals. Offers from Kansas, K-State, Missouri, OSU, SMU, Tech, Vandy and Wyoming. Pre-Christmas trip to Kansas was cancelled-not clear why. He wants to reschedule. Has already visited Wyoming, scheduled to visit SMU (Jan. 6) and Vandy (Jan. 20). Played WR, SS and FS in High School. As a Senior had 78 Tackles 0 Ints and caught 41 passes for 669 yards and 5 TDs 16.32 ypc. Rated 5.6 and 3 star by Rivals. In late November he indicated he was very interested in home state schools OU and OSU. It appear OU and OSU are either not interested or slow-playing him

I've been wondering when this guy's name would come up. I talked to a friend who has covered several of his games, and called him "the best athlete I've ever seen on a high school football field" (the guy has covered Oklahoma HS football for almost 20 years). Said he's amazingly smooth and fluid, changes direction in the blink of an eye, has size, speed, strength, instincts, leaping ability. He said Bailey is a terrific receiver, but could be an absolute monster at safety. True, my guy isn't a coach, but I've always found him to be a pretty solid assessor of talent. Said whatever school gets Bailey "will have a hard time keeping him off the field from Day 1, and that includes the big boys, if he goes to one of those schools." Maybe that prediction is ambitious, or biased, or something, but he certainly makes this kid sound impressive. Fingers are officially crossed.

Tom Lemming's Summer 2006 report list De'Von as the 2nd best wide receiver in the state and gives him 4 stars with 5 star potential. Says he has major college ability abth the WR and FS position. GPA is 2.8 and scored a 20 on the ACT. Benches 240. A physical receiver that is a load to bring down in the open field.
