Colbert Report takes on Bush Library opponents
Classic Colbert! He opened last night's show with a joke about the Bush Library ("Library Scarred") and then did an extended bit making fun of our favorite theology professors/hippies ("SMAFU").
Pay attention to the graphics to the right of Colbert. Funny stuff.

You need to email that idea to Trey Parker and Matt StoneEastStang wrote:If this blew up much more, I could see this as a South Park episode next season. Bush Library comes to South Park. Methodists protest. That will of course be after the Scientologists name Tom Cruise as Jesus episode which I predict will be the lead-off episode next season.

Still trying to understand where the Methodist Clergy was when Playboy held auditions for SMU students.
Semi-political issues - they start a petition, website against it
Moral issue - "crickets"

What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

That's not true at all. This is a small group of ultra left wing clergy who are getting press only because they pander to the pet causes of the liberal media elite. The overwhelming majority of methodists care a lot about morals.
The real problem here is that SMU is in many ways methodist in name only. Under the banner of open inquiry, we support the same hackneyed liberal slant from a bunch of sweater-wearing, ivory-tower eggheads who have never held a real job and think that the abstract world in which they live actually resembles the real world. They believe in their heart of hearts that the superstition called Christianity needs to be forever wiped from the face of the earth -- or at least emasculated and subordinated to political correctness.
True education, the kind that was offered at SMU as recently as the early 1960's and which has been increasingly disappearing ever since, is by and large no longer available. (Exceptions do exist, but they are rare). What you get is indoctrination and unbelievable resistance to admitting the very slight possibility that someone other than the liberal elites themselves might have an idea worth the remotest consideration. Free and open inquiry has become a farce. Freedom means freedom to spew left wing drivel. And openness means openness to everything *except* western culture, an understanding of and communion with which was the very reason the university was created.
I'm talking of course about Dedman College, not the trade school up the Boulevard or any of the other specialist schools.
Go SU Ustangs.
