Doh

Post by smupony94 »

Just got this:

Hey,
>
> I just got out of a meeting this afternoon with the Athletic Department. They said there are several schools interested in hiring Doherty...these schools include Memphis (if John Calapari Leaves), South Florida, and possibly Michigan. I am working with Doherty's schedule so that we have a chance to show how much he has done in his first season at SMU. I also want this rally to show him that we are promising to be there for him in seasons to come. We have given Doherty a competitive salary and great city, but need to give him for fans in the stands. I hope you all can attend...tentatively the first available date for him is April 9th...I would like to do the rally before everyone has chapter at around 5, let me know what ya'll think.

We better get used to this, it will be like this every year.
Unfortunately, in the past we have never had a coach that anyone else
wanted. It's a nice problem to have.

It is nice to have a coach people are interested in. I wish I was in Dallas so I could go to all the games.

However, do not be suprised to see Gillispie named the head coach at Arkansas some time next week. Call BS on it all you want, but this is a very strong possibility.[/quote]

Not familiar with Gillispie's pedigree. Does he have past ties with Arkansas?

He would not have to have any ties to want to get out of the hell hole that is College Station. Even Arkansas seems civilized in comparison.

Doh needs team guys. w/actual, usable skill sets, to win a fair share in CUSA. He's getting those, and its not really debateable. After he gets a few more W's, we'll get a few more profile names.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

I'm sure he had mixed feelings about the UNC game last night. One part of him the UNC alum who was on the winning team against Georgetown in '82 was probably sad. The other part, the coach who was sent packing to make room for Roy Williams, probably giggled a little bit when the collar got a little tight on the Heels. Blew a 10 point lead late in the second half and then went scoreless for the first 4:53 of overtime.

The most shocking aspect of that whole scenario was Roy's in game coaching job, or lack there of. You mean to tell me as Georgetown built a 10-0 lead in overtime there was never a good situation for Roy to use a timeout? He left his team out there and I cannot undertsnd why. Once the Hoyas switched to the 2-3 for good at the end of regulation UNC was lost on offense.

I was a Georgetown fan even before the Hoyas beat down RoyBoy, who is up there with Jim Boeheim as the most overrated coach on the planet. Now I'm ready to name my first child "Hibbert." When he grows to 7-foot-2, he's going to sign with SMU.
