Recruting Class
What does everyone think of our class compared to the competition in CUSA? I think we are right up there in the top one or two. UTEP, RICE, and Tulsa look pretty weak. Any thoughts?
I sincerely and respectfully HOPE that our beloved basketball coach who BTW was national coach of the year, remain at SMU for the next 50 years. He is the emodiment of class, dignity and professionalism. I am his biggest fan and greatest admirer.
I am not spreading rumors as the delusionally paranoid among us are spewing forth. Hence let me put the record straight: Please stay Coach Doh. Please for the love of all that is good and right in the world stay. Please please please. Pleae don't take a higher salary and leave. Stay (tears are rolling down my cheeks). I'm begging. Please!...Please!...Please!

Mustang basketball is still better off with even just the one year given the changes that he has pushed. I would be extremely surprised, however, if he doesn't stay on for at least two more years given his commitment to the school when he came here and his commitment to the recent class that he has just recruited. (I know that I used the word "commitment" loosely when talking about coaches, but no one wants to be thought of in the same light as Francione!) The only thing SMU really lacks is fan support. Orsini is making the right moves to try and rectify this and it will be interesting to see whether or not he is successful. If he is able to rekindle the spirit, than Doh might want to stay and create his own legend at SMU.

Amen, if we need to plead our case, there is a bigger issue here. If there is truth (which there is no evidence of ) that he would entertain other opportunities, then I don't want him to stay.
Dallas and SMU is a destintion for the right coach, who wants to build and maintain what could be an outstanding legacy, as opposed to always chasing someone else's legacy. So, I don't believe Coach Doh is seriously considering anything, but if he is I won't stand in the way.

From today's DMN:
More dollar bills for Billy at A&M?
"The latest from Rachel Cohen is that A&M's Board of Regents will vote on enhancements to Billy Gillispie's contract. The changes include a raise, an extension and increases in retention bonuses, according to an athletic department source."
