DC DOH ARTICLE
i like what Doh is doing. he is saying all the right things too...hopefully he is here for the log haul...
Students rally for Doherty's future with SMU
While the players play the game on the court, it is the coach that gets the players onto the court. And head coach Matt Doherty is already showing that he has the ability to get the players.
For someone who roomed with Michael Jordan in college, served as head basketball coach at Notre Dame and North Carolina and is now set to earn about two million dollars from his five-year contract with SMU, Matt Doherty is a pretty normal guy. The 2001 Associated Press National Coach of the Year took about 25 minutes to meet informally with students attending the rally organized by junior Michael Formanek to show support and awareness for Doherty's work during his first year at Moody.

(Please remember that the Daily Campus, like most other on-line publications, generates revenue by drawing readers to its site. While sites like PonyFans.com do benefit other on-line media outlets by directing new readers to those sites, we do not want to detract from the DC's ability to generate revenue by posting DC articles in their entirety in the body of PonyFans.com posts. We greatly appreciate when people post articles from other publications that deal with SMU athletics, but please post the link to the story, rather than the entire story. Many thanks.)

Fans can definitely have an impact on the game. I am sickened by fans who sit on their hands when ridiculous calls go against SMU. Booing is OK in college sports when directed against the officials. Not only is it OK it is essential. Boo the heck out of the refs when they make bad or questionable calls. I have never booed a college player (for either side) and I never will but refs are fair game. It is the essence of home court advantage.

When is the log haul? Where does it take place - on the boulevard?

Now I have the Houston Oilers song going through my head.
They move the ball from goal to goal like no one's ever seen...they're in the air, they're on the ground, always in control...and when you say the Oilers...you're talking Super Bowl...
