Just caught some very kind words on Ch 8 Sports from Dat Nguyen regarding Phil Bennett during the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. From his days at A&M. He singled out Coach Bennett as the man responsible for his football success.

Great for Phil. Meanwhile, I'd like to see a winning record sometime this century.

Oh, you will. It just may not be with SMU.
The guy will be a head coach somewhere, and that somewhere will win.
We might be that somewhere, but a lot has to happen between now and then.

Bennett is good for SMU. Let's hope that he gets to continue the slow ride up the hill.

He could do it faster with more help in the form of Degree majors and admittance help. See " The Other Rice "

Read a nice article last year about Terrance Newman, in which he had equally flattering things to say about Coach Bennett. Credited Bennett with turning him from an athlete into a football player.
