Tech LM Transfers

Post by Stallion »

I'm putting 2 and 2 together here. Tech's Rivals site has premium content that says that a Second String Tech O-Lineman has transferred. I was hoping for HP ex Chris Olson since we were his runner-up but noticed instead that Ofa Moheteau is no longer listed on the roster-so I'm assuming it is him. Moheteau (6-4, 362) was the first backup at both Guard positions in Tech's spring prospectus. Originally signed by BYU as one of the Top OLM in the country. I'll see if I can get some confirmation on this speculation.

If that's true about Mohetau, it would be an absolute waste of talent. He was considered to be the nation's top recruit when he went to BYU but his academics were always the issue.

I would not be surprised if something like this happened again. Let us know when you find more.

The lineman transferring is right tackle Andrew Johnson.
He's behind Rylan Reed (who last week benched a school record 565 lbs) on the depth chart, so he's leaving.
Ofa Mohetau is in all likelihood done with football. Just doesn't like it, which is a shame, because he had the ability and size to play on Sundays.

take out the part that says "to play on Sundays" and you have a line that would fit quite a few that have left the Hilltop the last couple of years

Don't know what Johnson's plans are. If he were a Pony, that would be awesome, but I have no idea.

I do know that Leach doesn't sign off on transfers within the Big 12 or the state of Texas, and that Foy Munlin's been pretty much the only exception.

Bennett and Leach actually get along really well, the 2004 dustup excluded.

Ask Bennett about Leach's swimtrunks, and he'll give you a funny answer.

So how big is Andrew Johnson? How much eligibility does he have left?

Johnson is listed at 6'4" 304 lbs.

I think he has 3 years of eligibility left.

Tell him to come to SMU.
BUS says we need more big dudes, and he sounds like he fits the part.

I'm pretty sure that Andrew Johnson comes with some real character issues. Wasn't he impeached by congress in 1868?

sigh... is it labor day yet?

No actually, he teaches psychology at SMU. He's kinda tall and scrawny to be playing lineman though.

Leach doesn't release players to schools he recruits against or plays against, however, the one exception was Foy Munlin to SMU. That may have been because Leach liked Foy, I don't know. The short story is don't expect a Tech transfer to SMU.
