no way! sorry, bennett sucks, but Cavan was horrible!!!!! i was an undergrad during the cavan years, there were "fire cavan now" bumper stickers on 75% of the cars, and a firecavannow.com. also, he had a legitimate NFL caliber quarterback in Josh McCown, and could design a goddamn offense to utilize him (or even keep the same poffense for him to learn it)....
....and those 75% of the people who blamed Mike Cavan for SMU problems have and will continue to be clueless. Mike Cavan, Rossley or Gregg had no chance to truly build a quality program. If you don't understand this you will be doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. Recruiting restrictions at even Notre Dame have reduced the greatest College Football program in America to a Laughingstock and probable Bottom Ten contender.
