Tulane effect on SMU

Post by SMUguy »

Can the argument be made that it's not great that Tulane is staying in D-1, since that means one more school to battle SMU for recruits? I realize we're not often chasing the same players, but Mewelde Moore and Floyd Dorsey would have looked good in red & blue, if they'd stayed with their initial commitments to SMU.

Just a thought to consider....

...
"Hit it."

I see your point, but I think it's more important to keep more schools afloat, rather than to let the big boys squeeze the financial life out of other schools. If Tulane had quit football, others might have followed, and then you'd have a big super-conference made up of teams from the SEC, ACC, Big 12, Big 10 and Pac-10. And that's not an arrangement that would include SMU, so of course I'm against that.
