the most telling comment is the one that TCU folks are in denial of...that this is all about EAST COAST supremacy, and those folks don't give a rat's arse about Texas. Including Memphis is a tough pill for those northeastern schools to swallow, much less UAB & So. Miss. Memphis is made slightly more palitable by the fact they have Calapari at the helm and might help land the Liberty Bowl. The Fla schools (UCF & USF are more logical as there are so many transplanted northeasterners in Fla.

SMU still could come out of this reunited with TCU & Houston somehow.

13 is an unlucky number and 14 is unprofitable for the ACC just as the article says. The deal might fall through, but the turmoil will remain because of the 2005 TV contracts. The football conferecnes will not look the same in another year. SMU did the right thing by consulting with the group they have contacted. We have picked the right time to get out of the WAC.
