Why it should be Bowden
...a consistent, marketable theme (provided he wants the gig). We could go from SMU, the only Division 1 football program in Dallas to SMU, the only program in the nation to boast former AP National Coach of the Year in football and basketball.
If not Bowden, I do like Gil. PLEASE not Fran.
Someone tell me this: I think Craig James, contrary to what some think, does somewhat give a [deleted] about SMU football. Assuming that's the case, what's his relationship like with Bowden? Did one supplant the other's studio role, or might there be some connection there where CJ would talk SMU up to his former colleague?
One thing we don't have to worry about now that Copeland's gone is hiring someone like Allen Wilson in hopes of "tapping into the DISD pipeline." He'd be a good hire as an assistant, though, as would DeSoto's Dave Meadows, IMO.

I'll bow to Bowden too
I'm on board for Bowden, excpet I just don't think he will step down to our level. If he wants to return to coaching, some BCS school will get him before we do.

We are going to be unloading Mini Me with this outgoing staff - leave the high school coaches in high school - along with the swinging gate.

I think the question is: Does he want to work harder than he has ever had to work before? He has been "retired" a long time ... think he is up for a gig like this one?

If he has been paying any attention to his brother and his dad he should know how the game has been changing, and the effort required to win. That he knows all that, and still wants to get back into coaching says he is ready and willing for the challenge.

Didn't he work with his Dad/Florida State this past off season to get ready for a transition back into coaching?
And yes, I think Bowden is a done deal here. I'm all for it. It would be huge.
