Mapps

Post by SMUFAN2006 »

This guy is a playmaker! Maybe the most exciting guy to watch on the team. I think he had definately set himself apart from the other RB's and deserves to get a shot at being the guy. He is small, but he is tough and will fight for yards, and he can make people miss.

So true. Martin reminds me of an ex-gf who you run into one day at the mall and think "boy, I envisioned a better life for you than this". It's depressing. That being said, it's very possible he might end up in the NFL in some capacity. Mapps on the other hand is Mister It right now. Works harder and runs smarter than anyone else. Definitely not on my big-threat radar until this year.

I agree 100%, WIllis can't turn it over when he is handing off

I said it on the game thread, if Martin had any of the heart that Mapps did, Martin would be a great player.

But it appears DeMyron doesn't want to work that hard. First point of contact, he goes down. I don't know even if the new staff can get anything out of him for his senior year.

It's really a shame that DeMyron has this ability and no will.

Mapps keeps his legs moving and grinding away. Just wish he was a little bigger. Not sure if can truly be a No. 1 back in DI but he can play at this level.

We'll never know if they never give him the opportunity to carry the load. This season is lost anyways, so we need to start figuring out what we have with some of our young guys and give them chances to establish themselves.

Mapps is our Marion Barber III!! He makes plays when he is in the game and i think others wish he would just get the ball a lot more. That little screen pass that he ran for almost 30 last night was awesome and if willis would check the ball down to him more and just a little bit earlier he could have more big plays just like that!

Mapps should get the ball more - Martin is a disappointment - he is mentally out of football. I'd like to strap him to a chair in a dark room and re-run a game loop of the TCU game from a few years back over and over and over again. Maybe that will get his head back in the game. If not, make him start paying tuition.

That 27 yard pass/run Mapps had in the 2nd half was really special. I said he was our best back all along.

Mapps has made a believer out of me.

I was a big fan of the Big man, and I still think he has a role on this team. But I really think that Mapps has been showing that the only thing keeping him down is gameplanning. Give him a small hole, and he'll get the yards.

I'll be excited to see what the next staff can do with both of them. Hopefully Martin's blocking is up to speed, because he'll have a chance to open a lot of doors for Mapps next year, and that might be the best thing that ever happened to him.
