"Misery Loves Company"

Anybody else seen the insert in this year's football programs from the Dallas Opera with that slogan? I think this gives a better reflection of the 2007 football season instead of "Pony Up!"

and then today, I get an email from the SMU athletic department about this weekend's Homecoming festivities with this on it!:

The Dallas Opera presents its 51st Season - Death by Diva! The season features the works of some of opera's favorite composers: Verdi, Lehar, Strauss, Gershwin and Puccini. The season has something for everyone. Reserve your S! eason Subscription today! Act now and SAVE 25% off your season subscription.

As jtstang says, you have to have a sense of humor to be an SMU fan these days!

I have always wanted to attend the Dallas Oprah. Or is it Opra. Oh well, guess someday I will come and see and spend lots of $. That day will come when I see scalpers out front of Ford Stadium.

As tragic as this season has been, I think it is all together fitting and proper to have the Dallas Opera as a sponser. All that's missing is for Bennett to throw himself off the top of the pressbox as the final gun sounds. SMU just needs to keep repeating "All'alba vincerò! vincerò, vincerò!"
