Football Coach/ Team = Ambassador of your University

Let├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├óΓÇ₧┬ós face it, in today├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├óΓÇ₧┬ós world it seems as though your Football team and coach are the ambassador of your school. I mean, seriously, Bennett got more national air time then Turner has in his entire tenure as president. We├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├óΓÇ₧┬óre just lucky SMU sucked when he was getting interviewed and thus no one was watching. Otherwise, people would have walked away and thought SMU was some hick college in West Texas. I feel like SMU should look at this hire as more then just a hire for the football fans, but also an investment to make SMU a more attractive school nationally. Not to mention, it helps national recruitment academically as well.

That is why I advocate SMU hiring a big timer (BOWDEN). It├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├óΓÇ₧┬ós not just about football or the mustang nation, it├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├óΓÇ₧┬ós also about our degree. We can build all the 20 million dollar buildings we want but it won├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├óΓÇ₧┬ót do near what our Football Team/Coach can do from a public image stand point.

That is why I├â┬ó├óΓÇÜ┬¼├óΓÇ₧┬óm advocating Bowden so strongly.

I do not understand why you care. You already said you would walk away from the school if it is not Bowden so we know how strong your loyalties are.

Never said I would walk away from the school, said team. And regardless if it's not Bowden or another big name the team will be what's walking away. FROM ALL OF US.

Well then walk away from the team now. And that goes for mr. pony too. The team is like your child. Just because they make a wrong decision or struggle in life you do not abandon or even worse threaten them with abandonment. I am tired of all the "you had better do what I want or else" talk. Even if Bowden is hired, chances of him staying forever are slim and I guess you will leave then.

I would wager I have lived with it a lot longer than mr. pony and TheRealTruth combined and I am not happy with what I have seen over the past 20 years. But now is a time for hopefully forward progress to be made by people that know more and have more control over the program than any of us, and then I have to listen to some newbie saying he will walk away from the TEAM if we do not hire Bowden. Go root for Florida State, or Clemson and get your Bowden fix if you think only one person in this country can save your team. There is a lot more wrong than just the coach and a few inspirational words will not fix that. I want someone who can help build the base of a good program from the ground up and Bowden may or may not be that person and he may or may not want the job. Someone will want the job though and whomever it is, I will back until I know they can no longer do the job and then the search will start again.

Coach Bowden would be a great Ambassador for SMU and he is such a great modivator. He would energize the whole SMU community including students, fans/alumni, and hopefully the faculty also. I think he would be a favorite of the media here which would do wonders in gaining more support in the Dallas area again.

Mydrel, don't you see though that your part of the problem? Or Maybe you don't. Maybe you have just gotten so accustomed to losing that it is ingrained in you. Sorry, but I hope to never be a fan like you. And by the way, if my son becomes a Kraghead, and has no desire to give up the habit, I will abandon him.... GO MUSTANGS! PONY 4 LIFE!
