Another name...

Post by StangEsq »

Since everyone is discussing "splash hires," I find it odd that no one has mentioned Butch Davis. Has a history of success in Dallas, NFL experience and has been successful as a college head coach. Rumors are swirling about Davis leaving for another job... Davis would definitely be a "splash" hire. Has a $2 million buyout.

Recently heard Dennis Green's name mentioned for the SMU job.
Let's hope not.

Did very well at Minn. No person on earth can do well with the Cardinals.
Joe Montana Could not get this team anyplace. I hate to say this about the home team. It will never go anywhere as long as the Bidwells own it. Someone should try to protect the QB. Green would meet the Big Hire thing kinda. But no.

Again, the General is right on. No way with Green.

Also, if I remember right Green had problems in college with harassment allegations and then had repeated problems at Vikings with sexual harassment charges. I remember Red McCombs having to address those at some press conference down here.

I disagree. Green is a good idea, too. He's coached in tough situations his whole career and has been successful. Even at Arizona he had some moderate success with that cursed franchise. Look what he did at Stanford. Green was an inner city kid and could relate to guys who might not otherwise consider SMU.

b

The Cowboys' D could have used some coaching from Davis tonight.

u

The defense looked terrible.

m

I guess it was just a typical Dallas-Redskins game.

Dennis Green gets a really bad rap. He did a great job at Stanford. His name has come up for the UCLA job. Would be interesting to see him recruit against Pete Carroll

I really think Boise's Petersen would do a hell of a job at UCLA. Boise has built itself based on two and three stars out of Cali. Imagine what he could do with four and five stars in his back yard.

He'd get his [deleted] kicked by Carroll constantly. As a Vikings fan, he couldn't have left Minnesota soon enough. He was the ultimate bastard.

How much fun would it be to have a kid who is a four or five star & Denny comes a callin. Say "hey coach, come check out my kid's Rivals clip...oh wait it's on youtube" then roll the 'they are who we thought they were' clip. Afterward tell Denny that was his test...if he's cool about it, great, kid's signing...if he's a f$cker, well, better luck next time.

THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!

I think then the questions are, "who did you think they were and why did you think that?"
