Hard to believe that figure.
Between the Mustang Band and the UCF fans, there couldn't have been 300 people on the east side. Were there really that many on the home side?

Students were non-existent because it was the beginning of the Thanksgiving holiday break and the majority of them had gone home.
It was also high school football playoff weekend and some SMU fans were probably at those games instead of at Ford.
And other fans were probably out-of-town for the week-long Thanksgiving holiday break with their families.
Not that any of it really matters because....

and the fact that we're 1-9 entering this game! if we were winning, people would be there.

I'm inclined to agree. As Troy Aikman once said: "[Dallas] isn't a football town, it's a winners town."

Yes, if we had come into this game 8-2, we probably would have had as many as 15,000 there today
