Carried over from bball threads...life lessons & SMU

Post by RGV Pony »

I'd just like to thank all those associated w/ SMU for the unique parenting opportunity that SMU's football program afforded me this weekend.

As is often the case, we're faced with making contingency travel plans to Atlanta for the SEC championship game. While my four year old understands that his sister goes to school where "the Tigers" are, he is 100% Mustang.

So, upon discussing the possible travel scenarios (depending on whether we get 2 or 4 tickets as requested), he responded with "we're gonna go see the Ponies play!?" Alas, we all know that's not the case. Not now, not likely for a long time. Me: son, we already saw the Ponies play, a bunch of times remember? Him: NOOO! We're gonna go see the Ponies beat the bad guys!

Poor kid is getting a complex that evil is always going to win over good. Maybe I should stop referring to opponents as "bad guys."

Oh yeah. The Centenary bbal game was the FIRST (fball or bball) game that I couldn't talk him into staying the whole game. It's only the third bball game of the year. Ugh. At least we'll see the "good guys" win tomorrow.
