I Hope Dr. Turner Is One Of The 44!

Tuesday is the day that the President of Tulane will host the conference call for 44 other non BCS university presidents as they dicscuss the BCS mess and what can be done about it. I hope that Dr. Turner is one of the 44 and they have the resove to push forward!

Hopefully, they will explore multiple strategies; including a BCS-type partnership with one another through the end of the current BCS deal... need to play those games in January and preferably on the 1st.

It is tough to position yourself as worthy of a big time partnership, while having your champion play in December. Just like you can't expect to get multiple NCAA bids if your going to enter your conference in "Bracket Buster Saturday."

In addition to speaking towards the BCS, I hope these conferences talk about positioning and network partnerships. Those are the major initiatives they can control.

I just called Dr. Turner's office (at 12:15 p.m.) and the secretary there told me that Dr. Turner has a conference call scheduled with the Tulane president on TUESDAY at 3 p.m.

President Turner has always appeared to me (from a distance) to be a thoughtful, intelligent man who has a solid view of where he wants to take SMU and our athletics department. Hope they make significant headway in their discussions.
