here's a kid that June Jones was recruiting at Hawaii. Two state Championships at Trinity. Kinda under the radar but there is a report Utah offered earlier

there aren't enough studs left on the board for SMU to look at anything else but marginal players if they want to fill a mid sized class. This is a guy from DFW who has been overlooked, still availiable and has been recruited by June Jones.

Sure would be nice to stick this guy (or someone his size, anyway), next to someone like LeRibeus...

Wow! where did that Griffin kid come from? Must be a problem-kids like that get offers on potential alone. Here's some info.

Robert is so long at 6-7, 345, but he's also so athletic," Lineweaver said about Griffin. "He's played select basketball in the summer, so he has that as far as coordination goes. It also speaks well for his mobility."

Notre Dame, Texas, and Oklahoma are just a few schools that have been by to check out Griffin. Leota, the two-way prospect, has his first offer.

"Mao is a defensive lineman slash fullback," Lineweaver said. "He's an old-school pounding, blocking full back but has soft hands to catch it on play action passes or in the flat. He also has a real burst on defense closing on the ball carrier in getting off blocks."

6-7, somewhere between 300 and 365, and athletic enough to play basketball?

If this guy can get in academically, we should sign him and hope to hell we hit gold. Even as a longshot, sounds like he's well worth the risk.

6'7" 350 lbs of an extremely soft kid.

When schools like Notre Dame and others come check him out and dont offer, take a guess as to why.

Coaches can improve feetwork, game IQ, technique and fundamentals, but very rarely can they remove fear from a kid's nutsack.

I guess he would fit right in

Griffin was originally a OT but ended up playing DT most of this year after some shuffling of the lineup. Unblockable at times but tends to play high and sometimes stands and watches as opposed to delivering the first blow.

anybody know if he is new to Football since I noticed he has been playing elite basketball. Maybe just a guy who doesn't have much experience at football.

And playing less than half the time on the D didn't help. Kid is big, slow and not a lot of energy.

Maybe so, but scrape 30 pounds off him and let Vic V work with him and see if that doesn't change. Can't teach size like that.

Don't most 6-foot-7 guys tend to play high?

John Henderson had that rep coming out of Tennessee, and now he's one of the best DTs in the NFL with Jacksonville.

John Henderson played high and still delivered a blow, this guy plays high and catches the OL, quite a difference. That being said I still wouldnt mind having someone of that size to see if you cant coax some aggresion out of him.

We'll just have to treat him like adam sandler from "the waterboy" and say something before each defensive series to get him pissed off enough to hit somebody. Although, I don't think making fun of water would have the same effect on this kid as it did the waterboy.
