I still blame it on ABC/ESPN, who more or less finance all but 3 bowls (Sun-CBS, Cotton-FOX, and Gator-NBC)... and it was ABC net execs that broke up the SWC when they blackmailed the Big 8 Presidents into Texas expansion.

Interestingly enough, Bob Goodrich, one of the top sports broadcast executives at ABC, is a graduate of S.M.U. His father was Dr. Goodrich at First Methodist Church - Dallas in the 60s and early 70s.
