The best part of that story is the fact that he's going to stay involved with the team as a student-assistant - meaning he'll be around until he gets his degree.

This is heartbreaking news. I've watched ShanD since he was in high school, and always been a big fan of his. He's a talented kid and terrific young man. I wish him all the best.

I'm also glad that the Ponies - who will remain my favorite team - have such talented running backs to carry the load.

This is tough news, but leads you to believe Bennett anticipated this when he made that comment at the banquet year before last.

ShanDerrick certainly provided all of us with some very special moments during what was otherwise just another miserable season for SMU football. Good to hear he's still going to be around and be a part of this team. Hopefully he can enjoy being part of a successful SMU football team before he graduates.
