His offer was tentative anyway, pending certain conditioning goals.
Good luck to him.

I wonder just how athletic someone is at 6' 340 lbs. If he was given conditioning goals, he sounds like a project, which is something we do not need at this point.

Damn...too bad. Hope he ends up somewhere. I know that the conditioning coaches aren't messing around with the big guys right now.

:? I hate when that happens because I feel for the guy. I'd hate to think we just blindsided him a few weeks before Signing Day. I expect that behavior from Todd Graham since Tulsa likes pulling out of things early.

Total idiocy! Dews is a great kid and this will bite JJ for years to come. Even if he was questionable on qualifying (he isn't) why pull the ship? Let it work its way through.

E. Tex is an area that coaches holds grudges and to have someone come from OOS and pull ships will long be remembered.

Why? Have talked to the coaches at both Tyler schools (public) recently and I absolutely guarantee they look after their own and do not appreciate anybody doing anything wrong to them.

If JJ wants to kill a pipeline to E. Tex that is fine, but I really doubt he has a clue what he is doing with this situation.

That's great that you have. But there is never an easy way to do is, especially if Jones doesn't believe Dews is the type of OL who fits his offense.

The timeline of this hire didn't help. And Dews could have left like Fuller and others did. He also knew there was a risk. No incoming coach has to honor all of the scholarships as long as he gives a reasonable explanation. It may not sit well, but welcome to life. And neither of us will know the real truth.

I can tell you this, coaches will tell you the things they want you to know.

I don't disagree with the sentiment. But you have to admit that you're playing up this angle because the purple and white have gone in there quite a bit to mine players out of there -- and they've done a great job.

I think it's a little early to suggest Jones is killing a pipeline out there. The guy just got started on Tuesday. I would submit to you that you are not as objective on this as you are making out to be. You're writing "We're TCU, we're cool with East Texas. Look SMU, they hate East Texas.''

Let Jones establish some line of communication out there with he and his staff. I think the real test will come when he and his coaches go out there in May during the evaluation period.
