as Maryland gets off easy after committing major violations. We've seen a pretty clear pattern since SMU was handed the death penalty...sacrifice the coaches who get caught and the NCAA will commend any BCS school for their corrective actions. Does anyone find it amusing the kid ended up at Notre Dame? Shades of Tim Brown turning down $50k to stay home and play at SMU because he thought he'd get more "recognition" at Notre Dame. Undoubtedly that's all he got from the Irish, right?

That's why Baylor axed Stanton and Bliss so quickly. They can say, "hey we got rid of the bad apples, so don't beat us please, Mr. NCAA." Technically, Baylor is death penalty qualified because, get this, their Tennis team was on probation in the last five years for "major" recruiting violations. The "major" follows the school not the sport. If you committed a "major" infraction after being on probation for one in the past five years the sport is death penalty eligible.
