Just kidding Stallion.

But pretty decent article on the dangers of relying too heavily on juco's and how lots of 4- and 5- star recruits don't live up to their hype.

Don't get me wrong, I believe SMU needs to get more juco kids--and I think there are a couple of ways to do this without altering the transfer credit policy--but in my opinion, a truly strong recruiting class only involves 5-7 juco kids to complement your recruiting class and fill in some holes where you have immediate needs.

I am also very encouraged about JJ's ability to develop talent. There are so many more 2- and 3- star kids that turn out to be better than the 4- and 5- star kids with the right coaching and conditioning programs. I can't even count the number of kids that were walk-ons at Nebraska under Osborne that made it to the NFL. Of all the highly touted Bill Callahan recruiting classes, only one of his recruits ever got drafted.

the Stallion Model is 5-7 Jucos at the discretion of the Coach. This guy is a commentator and I doubt if he has any true expertise in charting recruiting. Don't remember Nebraska outrecruiting the top teams in the Big 12 either.

I know. I just needed a good title for the thread.

And Nebraska's recruiting classes were ranked first or second in the Big 12 (depending on your source) all of the last three years that Callahan was coach. His first big recruiting class (ranked in the top 5 in the nation by all sources) was the class that produced this season's disaster.

We can worry about too many when we hit over 5. Until then we are behind everyone else.
