the poll they are currently running on the bball page:
What would you renovate first in Moody Coliseum?
Updated lighting and sound system
Wider concourse
More concession stands and restrooms
Replace wood bleachers with blue stadium seating
What? Replace what wood bleachers?!? Are they talking about the east bleachers they cannot pull out (former band location) or the bleachers behind the benches? I can't see either as a worthwhile investment - we can't fill up the blue seats we have, and replacing the student section benches with seats is just dumb!
And why is this option winning by far in the poll?
id go with the lighting and the sound system...other than that, we dont need more concessions and bathrooms because many dont go to the game in the first place.

dont see what widening the concourse would do
You obviously don't attend SMU basketball games.
I do. Probably many more than you do. Please explain.

i do from time to time...but i think the lights and sounds need to be done first. then when we start getting more and more in Moody, widen it

I think you are confused because I wasn't quoting you. I do agree with everyone that replacing the wooden bleachers should be the last thing on the list, not first.
SOUND!!! SOUND!!! SOUND!!! Do that first and that will take care of a lot of problems that fans have at games now. Then, maybe everyone will be able to understand what is being said. What a great idea.

Agreed. When they replace bleachers with nicer seats, people start sitting down. Bleachers are perfect for the student section. Everybody stays on their feet.

Not confused. I want to know your reasoning behind widening the concourse. I, as a frequent patron, do not think this is even remotely necessary at this point.

The outside concourse needs better lighting, some paint and overall "brightening up". Even as a student, way, way back, I felt I was going into an old basement when I went inside the building. I think alot could be done without major $'s.
If we wanted to really spend some money, knock out some of the old athletic dept. offices and put in some lounges, concession areas with modern large windows looking to the outside.
But, the worst is the unpainted floor, and forty-year old lighting system.

its not necessary yet. maybe 2 years down the road. but the lights and sound need to come first, then the wooden bleachers next, then the concourse
