Rockwall-Heath QB Drew Hollingshead

Post by George S. Patton »

Name sound familiar? That's Tam's son, who will be a senior at Heath this fall. Tam used to play here in 1970s, I believe.

6-5, 210. 2007 was the first year Tam ran the spread -- he was a wing-T coach in hs -- But Tam visited with fellow Brownwood Gordon Wood disciple Sam Harrell at Ennis and talked about changing to the spread.

Numbers for Drew weren't spectacular. He threw for about 1,300 yards but had four picks and 12 TDs. Not especially mobile but the goal this spring is to improve on that. The kid was a Wing=T QB all his life.

I was told Kevin Sumlin at Houston offered Tam a position but he didn't want to leave this area.

So chew on that.

One thing Bennett should have taught you is that we can NEVER have enough QBs!

Rockwall Heath is a new school and the Rockwall area has never been a hotbed of athletes so I don't know if you can read a lot into his statistics. He might have been running for his life on every play and throwing to Edward Scissorhands. I like his physical size and I hope he has a cannon attached to that 6'5" inch frame.........

Saw the two of them at more than one game last fall. Did not know he is a QB.

If he came to SMU, Drew's tuition would be free because his Dad is an SMU employee. This would not hold a scholarship and allow him to to become a better QB or change positions. You can't coach 6'5". No harm to anything SMU is trying to do.

Hollingshead is an smu football letterman also.. so if he turns out to be good or a project, we have a great shot of getting him

Bump -- all this referencing to him is a little old.
