Taylor Bennett
Taylor Bennett is the Ga. Tech QB and graduated with one year of eligibility left. I think he would be able to play immediately. He wants to play some place where he can pass the ball.
Why not SMU as a backup plan for Willis?

I believe a waiver can be requested in this situation to allow him to play immediately. Bobby Reid was granted a waiver to play immediately at Texas Southern and he was in similar situation when he transferred from OSU.

Bobby Reid was going to turn pro, but TSU filed for a waiver with the NCAA and it was granted so he transferred. This article explains it.

Why not...after all, didn't we have a Jim Bob Taylor who left SMU to play quarterback for Georgia Tech. Or did I dream up that name....

Here is info stating that Reid actually filed for the draft but would take his name out of TSU got the waiver. My main point was that it can be done.

At first he thought he would have to sit out year.

He had not signed with an agent so he could back out of the draft. The waiver was to play and not sit out a year.

You are missing the point. ANY player can transfer from D1A to a lower division without having to sit out. Blog's question refers to a D1A to D1A transfer who wants to transfer after having graduated. The NCAA put in a rule a few years ago, allowing graduates to transfer D1A to D1A without sitting out. There was one kid that did it and then due to many student athletes rearranging their schedules and piling up hours to graduate early so they could transfer, and concerns in them doing this (why I am not sure) I believe the NCAA rescinded the rule and does not allow it anymore.
Again, as long as a school releases a player from a scholarship, he can transfer from D!A to a lower division without sitting out.

He is terrible. I am a big Tech fan and watched him play quite a bit.
