What's the deal?

Post by couch 'em »

Can we get some clarification on exactly what can be discussed on the general board?

I just noticed the Oscars thread got deleted - it contained no inappropriate content.

Is the rule that everything on this board has to be SMU related, like Dallas hamburger joints, the space station, license plate designs, General Joe's, and the Michael Irvin show?

Or from way back in 2005, the birth of the general board, P. Diddy, Kinky Freidman, Manny's, I45 hurricane evacuation, and Rome?

I just like to know if a post is going to be deleted before I make it.

Probably not, but I would certainly put less thought into it.

Does the post count get reduced if the thread is deleted? This could be a big concern to some posters that like to right mindless posts!

You'll see smudiamondm and expony freaking out about their shrinking post counts on the football board. I wonder if the guys who run the site can go in and edit their post count back down to zero, heh

Really, what happened to the Oscar thread?? I was kicking some serious geek @ss in the big "was Deckard a replicant" debate.

I got deleted. Not sure why. I was in the process of responding on there when it was deleted.

Maybe the mods hate the fact that Deckard was clearly is a replicant.

I'm guessing it was the lack of any remote SMU tie-in.

At least the burger wars are about Dallas-area eateries where SMU folks can (and do) stuff their faces, and the Bush Library talk affects the campus, the perception of our university, the occasional story from another university's athletic department (i.e. Kelvin Sampson soap opera) can be read to infer a parallel if a similar situation happened here, etc.

I don't see why people are getting bent out of shape. This isn't an open forum/chatroom. It's about SMU, and always has been, and the guys make this available to us for free. I, for one, am very grateful because I can talk SMU sports 365 days a year and it costs me nothing.
