2009 class

Post by ShanDtheMan »

I heard the graduating class this year is small (sorry - haven't read anything on the season yet).
Anyone know how many scholarships SMU will have available next year?

According to the roster, here are the seniors who will graduate in 2009:
LB Will Bonilla
OT Vincent Chase
NG Serge Elizee
P Andrew Galloway
DL Patrick Handy
DB David Haynes
KR/SR Jessie Henderson
WR La'Cori Johnson
OG Sean Lobo
RB DeMyron Martin
RB Andrew McKinney
P Thomas Morstead
OL Tommy Poynter

That's only 13 guys. Assume there's a little attrition, but then assume we have a few guys from this year's class who will be grayshirts .... so I'd guess it's somewhere between 12 and 15. The class won't get rated highly by some, just because of the numbers, but it does sound as if Coach Jones is going after some quality guys.

They will bet on further attrition for various reasons and pick up a few more - 18-20

With the graduations next year of Patrick Handy and Serge Elizee, and DeMyron Martin and Andrew McKinney, respectively, I would think defensive line and running back would be the biggest priorities this year.

What about the 2 scholarships that belonged to Columbus Givens and Bryce Hudman?
