Death Penalty for USC basketball?

Dude was on the radio this morning talking and kept bringing up how USC bball is perfect fit for the death penalty. Apparently coaches hate Pat Forde b/c he tells it like it is and he has some really good points. Everyone knew Mayo was a thug and was making moolah and getting perks since he was like 14, so how could you expect him to all of a sudden turn down stuff like free tvs and clothes, tickets and hanging with celebs during his one year in college. This may be the number one reason the one and done rule should go. Don't want to kill a program forever but isnt this a prime fit for severe punishment like SMU received. SMU got the death penalty for being repeat offenders and blatant disregard for NCAA rules and this is exactly what USC has done.

There should be an option #4

The NCAA will never give the DP again, therefore, the NCAA should compensate SMU for it's share of Big XII revenue post SWC break up, because we should be in the Big XII instead of Baylor.
Just send 'da money.

Could someone figure up the total reparations we're owed?

Maybe Forde has gone over the edge?

Before the season began, Mayo's eligibility was verified by both the NCAA and Pac-10. If all that stuff had been going on for years, then how did both the NCAA and Pac-10 miss it?

It's called looking the other way.

So if the NCAA looked the other way before, why the outrage now?

USC allegedly did not know about any improper payments, therefore they should not get the death penalty. Not to mention the fact that they are not habitual offenders of any major violations. (It's the same thing with Reggie Bush)

Speaking of Mayo, I can't figure out why his stock keeps rising? I think a while back mock drafts had him in the #6-#7 range and now he seems to be penciled in at the #3 pick. I never thought much of him at USC. I saw several games last year and was never that impressed.

braginator,
you live near El Porto? Is Harry O's, aka Scary Hos, still kicking. I certainly miss the fish tacos at Sharkeez's and the lovely USC girls that packed the place on Thursday night.

There is legally "no evidence" in that article that the agent was a representative of the university or proof of lack of institutional control. Not saying its not possible-but just that the blowhard article doesn't meet the standards for the Death Penalty. The NCAA is not nor will it ever be in the business of giving schools the Death Penalty because of the actions of rogue agents w/o actual proof of lack of institutional control. That Pandora's Box will never be opened by the NCAA.

USC will bow three times to Mecca, plead igorance and for mercy and the NCAA will go ahead and give the death penalty to the North Dakota Hockey team for having the audacity to keep the name "Fighting Sioux". USC will get slapped with a wet noodle and have to forfeit all its 2007-2008 games.
