A pleasant read

So, I am on a plane relaxing, reading the Memior of Clarence Thomas, MY GRANDFATHER'S SON when I am at a point where Thomas is attending his first year of Yale Law school. Thomas was very overwhlemed, and mentions"

" I put my shoulder to the wheel and got through the first semester in one piece, making several good friends along the way. Getting to know students like Harry Singleton, a Johns Hopkins graduate who came from a family not unlike my own, and Rufus Cormier, a second-year student who'd been a football star at Southern Methodist University but was no less adept in the classroom, helped to ease my anxieties."

What a nice mention. I do not know if Rufus is mentioned any further on since I have put the book down and am trying to make income for 2008 in Las Vegas, but although Rufus and I were not close in any way, I do remember him as one of the elders that would not hesitate to speak to we lowly frosh and was always extremely nice to us. And of course the Bluebonnet Bowl where he took on Steve Owens single handedly. Owens had not been tackled for a loss during the entire season while winning the Heisman, however, Rufus tackled him in the backfield on several occasions.

It gave me a very proud feeling to read his mention.

Rufus was also a great friend of the Clintons at Yale.

I am in Vegas now. I am currently licking my wounds and posting on Ponyfans, but will hit the trenches again soon. I am leaving Thursday morning to head back to Arkansas. Tell your pilot to watch out for our plane, I will leave some money for you to win.
