Earthquakes are not fun!
Just had a 5.8 Earthquake here.
Such fun! I was on the second story of my home and believe me it felt like a roller coaster.
The poor dog looked at me as if to say "What the Poop!"

I am about 40 miles from the epicenter but had pictures moved and my sister had books off shelves at her home.couch 'em wrote:How bad is a 5.8? Stuff flying off shelves, or more just swaying?
I live on the waterfront (Huntington Harbour) so the effects are magnified due to the pooping water soggy ground so my house swayed quite a bit.
I have to admit I have been through a lot of these and this got my attention.
I feel worse for the poor dog though.
He staggered over to me during the shaking looking at me with total confusion.

one of the last places i would want to be is at the dentist in an earthquakeSMUtrojanFAN wrote:That was a long one. Just talked to my dad who was at the dentist in Brea (not far from Chino/Diamond Bar) - he said everyone ran out of the building yelling and screaming!

You're lucky he didn't poop as if to say, "That scared the [deleted] outta me."HB Pony Dad wrote:Just had a 5.8 Earthquake here.

The Local News has said there have been 10 aftershocks up to 3.8 magnitude but haven't felt any here (Yeah!).KnuckleStang wrote:Glad you all are ok. I have never experienced an earthquake, and hope to keep it that way. My 1920's 5th floor walk-up would almost certainly pancake to the earth in a matter of seconds.
Advising people to stay in their homes as they need to check the Freeway Overpasses for potential structural damage.
Also reporting broken water mains in East Los Angeles.

do you have to get an inspector for your foundation and structural integrity every time this happens?HB Pony Dad wrote:The Local News has said there have been 10 aftershocks up to 3.8 magnitude but haven't felt any here (Yeah!).KnuckleStang wrote:Glad you all are ok. No but I did check out the house to make sure the water heater wasn't leaking gas or water.RednBlue11 wrote:

No cracks observable either so I'm good to go unless we get lucky and have another one within the next few weeks.
One sometimes leads to another but usually smaller (I Hope I Hope) in magnitude .
This one wasn't as big as the last time which caused waves to travel down the channel in front of my house rocking the boats.
104 in Dallas sounds pretty attractive right now.
