The best team in America -- the U.S. Swimming team
Absolutely incredible work in Beijing. That 4x200M relay was just incredible. Michael Phelps the best swimmer in U.S. History. Unbelievable!!
Congratulations to all for making us proud!!

Because these sports are not televised often and are out of the limelight. Plus, the Olympics are the greatest stage of them all. So when these out-of-sight sports get coverage, all of us should gravitate to the TV screen.couch 'em wrote:It's unbelievable to me how people don't give a darn about sports like swimming, gymnastics, etc for years, then all of a sudden become very interested fans during the Olympics.
Those athletes know they don't get much recognition but they know during this time, we have their backs.

Nothing, but according my stepson and facebook, an SMU coed (not athlete) just lost the gold for silver in women's gymnastics. I wonder why we have equestrian when we could dominate in women's gymnastics with all the major instuctional gyms in Texas? Probably unlike men, it is not the route top women gymnasts take (a university team).

I had to look it up, but Nastia Luikin (such an unfortunate name when said out loud) was enrolled at SMU. Heck of a gymnast.Mexmustang wrote:Nothing, but according my stepson and facebook, an SMU coed (not athlete) just lost the gold for silver in women's gymnastics. Don't forget about Ryan Berube. He swam the anchor leg on the gold medal winning 4x200 relay in 1996. Sweden took the silver in that race with another SMU product, Lars Frolander, swimming the third leg for them.MrMustang1965 wrote:Sure wish we were seeing SMU Mustangs logos on those swim caps and warmups instead of that damned UT Longhorn logo.![]()
Long live Steve Lundquist and remember Jerry Heidenreich!
What is really needed is about $6 million more dollars (we have raised about $12M so far) for the new swimming and diving complex. This will bring the top tier recruits back to the hilltop. That's how UT got so good.
Side note: Men's swim coach, Eddie Sinnot, is the team manager in Beijing for US swimming.
To bring it back to football...Ryan has been a section 104 season ticket holder since Ford opened.
