Coach Jones in Bobcat Fans Magazine
I just got done writing the Texas State/SMU game preview story for the football issue of Bobcat Fans Magazine. I have to say you guys are very lucky to have someone like June Jones leading your program. The magazine will be on stands in the San Marcos area in about a week and a half. The full story should be posted at that point on the Bobcatfans.com website too. The website is being completely redesigned so not sure when it will be up but once it's officially published I will put it up here for you to read as well. In trading emails with your athletic department and Coach Jones over the last couple of weeks putting the story together I can tell you that you guys have some GREAT years to look forward to. In talking to Bobcat coach Brad Wright for the same story I think we have some great years coming too. It's a great time to be a Mustang and a Bobcat.

As promised....
This is the raw version before it's been through two editors so if there are mistakes they were taken care of before the story was published. Hope you enjoy:
September 6th will mark several firsts for both the SMU and Texas State football programs.
For SMU it’s the first home game for the man considered by some the savior of SMU football, Coach June Jones. Jones turned a perennial doormat in Hawaii into a national powerhouse. He is making big bucks at SMU to do the same thing, this time trying to resurrect a football program that has never recovered from the NCAA death penalty that shut the program down 20 years ago. Jones is known for bringing programs around in record speed. “I’m not big into predicting what’s ahead. When I took over at Hawaii, after they had lost 18 straight, if I had said we’d have the biggest turnaround in NCAA history, you would have thought I was crazy. SMU lost five games last season on the last play of the game or the last drive. They weren’t that far away. I believe that if we can change the mindset of these players, we can win.â€

Thanks for sharing the story, Beaumont2000!
Good luck this year — after Saturday, of course.

[quote="beamout2000"]"Jones said “I think winning attracts fans and that’s what we hope to do. We need the fan support. We need them to come out to the games and be loud. There’s nothing quite like a true home-field advantage.â€
