He wanted to follow Briles to Baylor, but Sumlin wouldn't release him. Appealed it and some other UH board ruled against him. He will sit out '08 and attend BU without a 'ship then go on 'ship for '09.

I'd be surprised....he seems to really like Briles and wanted to transfer at midterm when AB took the Baylor job.

I appreciate the self-deprecating humor, sic em. Kudos.

A+. Naming an embattled coach which both our schools are historically tied to is very, very cool.

Bliss apparently didn't come through. Word is that Gannaway, instead of walking-on at BU and paying his own way for a year will go to JUCO first.

What's the benefit for the kid in doing this? Is Briles really that amazing?

Of course, nothing is guaranteed in recruiting until the ink dries on the letter, but Gannaway supposedly has a close relationship with Briles. Time will tell...

Yes...the kids shows a huge amount of team loyalty...don't hold your breath.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
