Tulsa: has the tide turned?
It wasn't that long ago when we owed Tulsa. We won 7 straight against them from 1996-2002 and even in the last four years we are 2-2 vs. Tulsa. Now we are a 24 point dog to them at home.

Tulsa got tired of losing so they changed their admission policies, got aggressive with $$$ and went after good coaches, and allowed the coaches to recruit from a larger pool of recruits than SMU (ie., jucos and transfers). Remember folks, SMU is not bad by accident. Junes Jones even echoed those words. Restrictive policies have hindered the talent base at SMU which has us ranked third to last in Rivals recent poll. Idaho and N. Texas are ranked lower. The positive: proven winner coach and apparently (although I have not seen much proof of it yet) less restrictive admission policies to allow the coaches to recruit juco and appeal to tranfers. Let's see what kind of transfers and juco players June Jones and company get to see if this was just more garbage thrown at the few fans left. The negative: this team is young and we may be in for some rough times ahead before we see wins.

You do know that you can edit that post and make it correct...or not.PonySoprano wrote:Sorry guys - I meant "owned" in my original post (but I'm sure you English majors figured that out anyway).
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
