PonyFans.com's Trey Bandy has seen the recruiting process from both sides: as a player in the early 1990s and now as a high school coach. Bandy weighs in with his thoughts on how SMU head coach June Jones and his staff are changing the Mustangs' future â€" starting on the recruiting trail.
Enjoy!

Glass half-empty people are going to puke, I enjoyed it though! Thanks!

PonyPride,
Are any players on his team were interested in SMU?

This is really insightful and well-written. I'd love to see more from Trey ... er, COACH Bandy.
Great stuff, Trey.
(And nice choice for a headline, Webmasters)

The description of the former SMU coach not even taking the time to talk to an elite player speaks volumes.
Thanks for your insight, Trey. Very interesting read.

True. Also maybe he could give us some updates on 2010 prospects that are on his team and those his team plays against. That would be really good.

Not that anyone is probably concerned but I wanted to say that in writing this article I in no way was trying to take shots at the old staff. I feel very confident in saying that the previous staff was doing the best they could and in no way was trying to convey a message of ineptitude on their part. Coach Bennett and his staff were a great group of men.

Does the team you're coaching have any players getting recruited?
Do we have a chance at any of them?
Thanks - look forward to your next story.

I remember back in the day when Jimmy Johnson used to say he wanted to see players with swagger...good to now have a coaching staff with swagger

Probably not come as a big surprise to "Glass Half Empty" Folks who have been stating for years that SMU has been no factor with the Top Texas recruits while listening to the "Glass Half Full" Folks predicting conference championships and bowl games.

The glass is neither half full, nor half empty - simply the wrong size glass.
