Darius Johnson
Per Rivals, Oregon State, K-State, UCLA, BC (offer) and Tech have upped their recruiting of Johnson since the state title game. Johnson quotes Tech as being intriguing because they run an offense that is "neck and neck" with SMU's...says he followed their team this season.
This is obvioiusly to be expected after his performance in the title game. Nevertheless, we cannot afford to lose Johnson, who is potentially a very special receiver for our system. He's a huge, huge part of our class.
Proof of his talent in that we're going to have to beat the big boys to get him...hope we're up to it.

What you didn't learn is that there are no visits scheduled with the above mentioned schools.
Yes there are with at least one.
Yes, you're right. I checked the non-subscriber page. And he's visting SMU on Jan. 23. Unless that board is not up to date. According to the board, there are offers from SMU, UNT and Boston College, and those have been on there for quite some time -- That's it!

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Johnson if he has his grades in order could probably get double digit offers at this point-he's a hot property, but as we actually start building a competitive team you are going to have to win some recruiting battles. What June Jones can offer a kid like Johnson in his offense is substantial-immediate playing time and an offense that can allow a smaller receiver to get 100+ receptions, 1,200+ yards receiving and the potential to become an NFL player. Jones has a damn good track record to sell to Johnson-hope he realizes just how great an opportunity it is.

Not sure how the FB Hightower coaches operate, but there are plenty of those in the state that take the mentality that once their player commit, he better not switch unless it is for a good reason -- family emergency or anything.
Arlington Lamar's Eddy Peach is one of those. His belief is that once you commit, you are showing personal responsibility and you honor your word. Switching for the sake of doing it reflects poorly on the person and the program.
To piggyback on the Keeper of the Star's comment, all Johnson has to do is look at what the limited offense did with Sanders and Robinson before they were suspended. The two were either over or close to 1,000 yards.
Johnson is coming to SMU.
