Kid is quite a talent. He'll get more consistant as his experience level and confidence grows. You have to give the staff credit for getting him to come here all the way from Oregon. Some prominant schools offered him. Doherty has taken his lumps, but getting McCoy was a clear win for his staff and the program.

True,,,I bet he would see some field time as well if he weren't so important to the b-ball program. He was a heck of a high school DB.

McCoy is definitely the man. Ponies nearly pulled it out today and with him and Otis as a core for the next four years, the future's looking bright.

I think the comment by the UAB fan under the article pretty well sums up McCoy's play today.
"We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."

Wasn't he a great WR, too?

May have been, I was just going from this:

Prep: Listed by Scout.com as the tenth-rated point guard in the class of 2008 and a Rivals.com three-star prospect...He was a two-time first-team all-state selection in Oregon for coach Tony Broadus while leading Grant High School in Portland to the 6A (large-class) state title...He averaged 16.5 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals as a senior...Was also a first-team all-state selection in football as a defensive back and is the first player in ten years to earn All-State honors in both sports in class 6A in Oregon...He was a wide receiver and defensive back on Grant's football team, which is the same high school that produced current SMU football head coach June Jones...He also ran track and was a member of the 2007 state championship 4x100 meter relay team and the 2008 4x400 state championship relay team...Finished his high school career with 1,508 points...Averaged 17.9 points, five rebounds, and four assists as a junior...His sophomore campaign saw him average 14.6 points, four rebounds, and four assists...McCoy also made the 6A state finals in the triple jump (third) and long jump (fifth) as a sophomore.

Pretty impressive athlete either way.

McCoy can score at will but knows he needs to get his teammates involved if this team is going to improve.

U know Memphis will be focusing their D on McCoy after his great performance Saturday against UAB. I will be very interested to c how he handles the Tigs pressure cause u know they are going to be all over him.

I would try to run over 50% of the plays to Mac. Its not being selfish, its just we don't have anyone else that can do the things he can do. In return, it opens up things for the other players.
