Some new guy...
So I grew up in Mesquite, did my undergrad at A&M (cult and sheep jokes incoming), and I'll be heading to SMU this fall for law school. I realize that I know nothing about SMU football, other than hasnt been anything to write home about as of late, and June Jones is the new coach.
I assume we run some kind of spread variation with JJ at the helm, but what kind of D do we run?
Any hope for the future, any decent recruits incoming, or should I just enjoy the tailgates and see the game as a social experience? I'm kind of used to this since A&M has seen better days, too.

Well, we just hired a former Aggie who is a big time defensive coordinator who thinks he can sit in the same living room as the Big XII coaches and compete with athletes, so help's on the way!!!!
Oh, wait...that was like 7 years ago. That guy left after a one win, a zero win, and a few mediocre seasons.
But yeah, JJ's here and we have the R&S. And we won one game last year.
Most of us think enough things have been changed within the program to start turning it around. I wouldn't get too antsy in your 1L or 2L years though.
Welcome.

empty seats should go without saying. Just as sure as College Station is a toilet, you're going to have no problem ever finding a place to sit. You, along with Frenchie (here's where fellow pf.com poster smupony94 can chime in), will always have plenty of choices as to where to sit.

showing up early to get a good seat (or to even get your assigned seat...for which you paid) is lame. So im going to be able to see sporting events, so I got that going for me...which is nice.
Having grown up in the Dallas area (Pleasant Grove and Mesquite, represent) and spent the last *mumble* years in College Station, I can say that College Station is no toilet, but it for sure cant compare with Dallas. Its ok.
