No, I'm surprised that we got the one that we did (and that gentleman wasn't able to make it! lol).

But really, we already have 4 commits, which is insane for us. So every new commit is a shock to me. It's a pleasant shock, but a shock none-the-less.

By Way of comparrison: In 2008, we didn't get our 4th recruit until October 10th. In 2009, we improved that to June 16th.

This year we tied it up on April 26th.

when you recruit players that other teams want-then you sometimes have to wait on players to make up their minds. SMU isn't exactly at the top of the tottem-pole. Phil Bennett never had to worry about recruits that other teams wanted-he essentially never strongly attempted to recruit the Top 100 and very few Top 150 in the State of Texas. . Bennett basically recruited from the bottom half of the recruiting Class. Jones is offering and strongly recruiting about 5+ times more top players. When Rivals comes out with their 3 stars this will become more evident

Well put Stallion.

I find the comparison between 2008, 2009, and 2010 interesting. I take the fact that we have 4 commits before the end of April as a good thing. I hope I'm right about that. In any case, it seems that June and Co. are on a different recruiting level than we've seen in awhile. I hope so.

Other than O'Guinn I doubt our other commits will be a 3 stars. Where are the other offers to support 3 stars for the others? Haven't seen them. But that's not my point-when Rivals releases their 3 stars-even their early 3 stars it will be readily apparent to everyone that SMU is going after a much higher quality of recruit.
