...the guy was among the most intense, focused, disciplined people I knew in school. Very serious-minded when I was anywhere near him.

I met him a few years ago, shortly after he got on the DISD board. Had a good conversation. Liked him. Seemed like a real sharp guy. Know people that play basketball iwht him and they think he is great.

Would I hire him? Absolutely.

I also recall him specifically saying the ONLY solution for Texas schools is a state income tax.

So not going to be gettin my vote any time soon.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

7 years ago I chose Texas over Colorado primarily because of no state income tax. Also knew a guy who was a prof at UC Santa Barbara who CHOSE to be a prof at NTSU primarily to escape the state income tax.

Fire up some indian casinos or something. I guess the Lotto has pretty much petered out as a source of education funding.

The Lotto being a source of education funding is one of the biggest cons on Texas residents ever.

Govenor Richards ran a campaign to assist education funding with the Lotto, but it did not happen. After taxpayers discovered the truth, and demanded that Lottery revenues be earmarked for education, comptroller Bob Bullock had to do what the taxpayers demanded. All he did was divert the Lotto funds to education, then simply reduced the funding from the general fund.

Casinos are the answer, if revenues are truly earmarked for education. Bye bye to Robinhood, bye bye to the State Franchise Tax (Corporate Income Tax), and reduce property taxes.
Just send 'da money.

Govenor Tollroad has the answer. Electronic tollbooths at every intersection.
