Remember Donnie Gilray?

Post by ProudPonyPa »

Donnie was in Coach Caven's last scholarship draw. As with most of these youngsters, Phil Bennett ignored him and refused to help mentor him through some tough times.

Donnie eventually lost his scholarship - of his own accord.

He is now a US Marine in San Diego and has not put down football. He is the QB for his base's team. They play with various commands in the area.

Donnie has been recognized as a very good Marine and a great football player. He is going to suit up with the San Diego Chargers on June 17th for scrimmaging. Not exactly a draft - but he gets to throw balls to pro receivers. He is in the best shape of his life through the Marine's regimen.

Just a quick update of a former Mustang.

Good news indeed, PPP! Give him our best and tell him SEMPER FI!

Also, an update on Morgan Hudnall (Highland Park) who was with the SMU football team thru the '08 season: he's with the U.S. Army and is currently stationed in Alaska. He says he can see Russia from there! ;)

If the link doesn't work, go to www.chargers.com and scroll down to the media vault. Then click videos. The title is Chargers Invade Mirimar.

Very cool!

He met Norv Turner and got lots of autographs.
