Does anyone know the story on this guy? I don't mean to disparage UH, but I frankly am amazed that he would choose UH if that offer list is anywhere close to accurate. Does he have eligibility issues?

Most schools did not recruit him as a QB, UH did.

As I understand it, he really really likes the iced coffee at 7-Eleven.

His 4-Star rating was based upon his play as a dual threat qb, not as an athlete. Not JJ's type, but UH's recruiting is quite impressive. I might be mistaken, but I didn't see anyone that we had offered, perhaps the recruits just never expressed an interest in SMU and we didn't pursue, etc.

Got to give UH props. They are really putting together a strong program. If they can get players to choose UH over the likes of Alabama. . .then look out.

Remember that UH had a 2008 commit from 4 star Robert Griffin, who had offers from Tennesse, Nebraska, Kansas and other comparable programs, before Art Briles left for Baylor and Griffin followed. Griffin was also a top 5 dual threat QB that year. Sumlin, known as a great recruiter and recruited the Houston area for OU, inherrited a program in fantastic shape and has just built on that. UH is doing very well for itself over the past 5-6 years.
On a side note, rivals.com has UH listed #30 in their NCAA preseason ranking. Really impressive if you ask me. Let's see how things shake out for them this season playing Texas Tech at home and Ok St on the road. Could be a banner year for the Cougars and would bring lots of positive attention to CUSA!
