Willis quit

Re: Willis quit
That sucks. I was really looking forward to seeing him play, even if it wasn't as a starter.
I wish him the best, couldn't imagine going thru what he has at any age.

Man, that sucks. All the way around. Best wishes to him. The story says he doesnt know what he'll do without football. I hope he finds out, and he embraces whatever that is and triumphs over the crap he's gone through.

Good Luck Justin! There is life after football, believe it.
Re: Willis quit
I wish good luck on whatever he does next. He's battled through a lot and deserves nothing but the best. Part of me feels like it is a bit of a cop-out to quit just because he wasn't in the starting 4, but I'm guessing that that wasn't the only reason for his decision after all he's been through. I don't think he could have realistically been a starter right away after the injury he had

Re: Willis quit
Its too bad that incoming coaches always have to make some type of dramatic player move when they are hired. Have to throw their weight around & let everyone know they are in charge.
Its also too bad that JJ decided he was going to make that statement to the team by demoting Will.
Will was a damn good qb who got the shaft imo.

Bet he transfers elsewhere and plays another year.
It's weird though, I just watched a video of him the other day saying how much he was looking forward to the season.

Wow! This surprises me. To be honest, I was even more surprised he was back on the field so soon after this injury, as well as his father's passing.
Best of luck, Justin! You helped renew a lot of people's interest in SMU football your first two seasons here under center. Maybe you can join us on the Blvd!

For him, maybe he just needs to leave the Dallas-Fort Worth area to get fresh outlook on everything in his life. Might be the best thing for him.
As an aside, I congratulate Wilkerson and Beasley earning the other two spots. But Im sure Haynes and Loftin will earn their way somewhere. No starting position is locked in.

Re: Willis quit
maybe he should have sucked it up.
Justin, you have no future in the playing side of football. you were given about 50,000 dollars a year to play a game. You aren't starting, but suck it up. Get your free degree, think about your family, and make something of yourself.

I am pretty sure he can still get his free degree . . . chances are that June may not strip his scholarship and let him finish out his Sr year of school.
Any body know if he is dropping out of school too?
Sad to hear about this, especially after what happened to his dad, I could not even imagine going through what he has gone through the last 2-3 years.
Sports, and all that implies.

Re: Willis quit
I would expect him to be on that sideline being a good teammate and supporting his team then. Otherwise its just a handout.
