Yeah thanks for the warm welcome. From the C-USA and Frog forums, I would say that most other fans hate the idea of us joining. Just look at it this way, if we don't start playing in C-USA until the 2005 season, that is time that SMU can spend getting better in football, as well as maintaining a high level of excellence in other sports. If we start turning things around next year (not so many freshman waiting in the wings), and really get into action for 2005, I see us in good shape for our first year in the new conference. Who knows, the right donor may step up and help fund a baseball team. I know I am excited to be possibly joining a conference with teams I have heard of before. I am from south Florida, so it will be nice to catch the occasional SMU vs USF/UCF games. Better than waiting up until midnight to listen to the SMU-Hawaii games.
Thank you for the nice words. I am excited about playing USM.
I like USM's play the best possible opponents (recently competition or on upcoming schedules - Nebraska, Alabama, Penn State, Florida, Auburn Tennessee) attitude.
I'm a firm believer that the world revolves around football. BUT, from the overall sports perspective SMU is perennially a top NCAA school (WAC Governor's Cup winner, et al). I haven't done any formal research on the matter, but I'd be surprised if SMU isn't higher ranked in all sports (cumulatively) than most or all the teams in CUSA.
