You can't laugh at me for this, but I thought the coolest uniforms SMU had were the pseudo-tiedye unis the men's soccer team had in the early 1990s, when Alan Prampin and Scott Blokker and Jeff Stokes were running roughshod over everyonee they played.

While uni's seems like a silly subject-- I would give a vital organ to go back to the old pony express uniforms. And get rid of the black shoes etc... Mid-Eighties uniforms were the best in college football. Bennett please change back and I will forgive you for this year and the expense of my season tickets and bishop pass.

Come on people. At some point you have to change. Change with the time. I like the new look. It's more on the updated side. You have new things going on today and you have to do things that will attract. New uniforms go with the new changes in life.----Get with the program.

These are the signs of time!

Hang in there bro!

Speaking of uniforms.....this is a neat site that shows all of the SMU helmets since the 1930's.

My personal favorite is the one shown from 1991.

I think the '03 model is the best ever. Very traditional looking. If we could just get the "hot dogs" to shed the black sock, high school, gangsta look we'd have a "uniform" uniform. Seems the linemen know how to pull up their white socks!
I imagine everyone immeditately fell in love with the Ron Meyer rendition because the Dave Smith costume was such a cheap imitation of Ohio State. The success SMU had in the Pony Express uniform made it known nationwide. The post-DP spares tried too hard to tweak a good thing. The J J Pearce- looking uniform became synonomous with a loser. Phil will turn it around before that happens with the classic look we sport now.

FYI for DBs and WRs:
Uniform: 1. always the same; not varying in form, rate, degree, manner, etc. 2. not varying among themselves, all alike.

Yeah your right! Someone tell Notre Dame to get rid of those gold helmets and get updated. Come to think of it, the Cowboys have had that stupid star on the side of their helmet way too long. You people ever heard of tradition?!

Well, yeah, but I have to admit I dislike both Notre Dame and the Cowboys - and their helmets.

For my taste, give me that 1989-90 version, the one with the white facemasks. Classic look.

'03 model is by the far the best. i think our unis are very unique and really stand out against some of these poorly dressed WAC teams. We look SHARP for once. Now we just need to winning :)
