Great story. My favorite line:
"They talk about the Pony Express and all that, well, guess what, they're going to talk about you guys from here on," Jones told reporters Saturday. "I really believe that."

Re: SMU on cbssports.com
After reading that, NO ONE should complain about the Daily Campus. It's one thing to leave out the word "first" in the statement, "Shawnbrey McNeal became SMU’s 1,000-yard rusher since 2003." It's another thing to refer to our kick-blocker as "Former Estonian track Margus Hunter." Last I checked, his name was Hunt, and he was a track athlete, not a track.
Other than the obvious lack of editing, good read.

Re: SMU on cbssports.com
I thought this was kind of a cheap shot at June...
"The Mustangs are going to Hawaii where Jones coached for nine seasons. So entrenched is his legend that the coach who left the Warriors for more money, the mainland and a modestly better chance of long-term success, is seen as a drawing card for the Hawaii Bowl."

I took that as Dodd painting the picture through the eyes of many Hawaiians. They believe that he left for those reasons but will still come see his team play.

I really believe June thought that his leaving was the only way the school would put the neccessary resources into the football program. The SMU job was the most intiguing to him which is why he took it.
Then again, Im a sunshiner.

Re: SMU on cbssports.com
Davidpaul, I believe that as well. June is the type of guy who asks himself "is this place better with me or without me?" In the case of leaving Hawaii, the answer was "without me."
